Focused Medical Analytics, LLC Issued its First US Patent

Rochester, NY – October 19, 2010 -- Focused Medical Analytics, LLC (FMA) has been issued a patent for its Medical Practice Pattern Tool™ (MPPT™). The MPPT™ tool is the backbone of FMA's clinical variation analysis process which helps clients reduce the cost of health care while maintaining or improving quality.

The MPPT™ analyzes the total cost of care for a given medical condition by grouping practitioners into four cost levels and then comparing the services used within each level of physicians. The method then identifies the medical services that significantly drive the cost variation among the individual levels. By identifying those services, a clinically appropriate intervention aimed at reducing costs or improving quality can be developed.
